Benefits of Using Armored Cars for Protected Transportation

Our armored vehicles perform well in the following critical roles:

  • Passenger protection
  • Law enforcement
  • Cash-in-Transit
  • Armored personnel carriers
  • Specialty & custom armored vehicles
  • Military vehicles & more!

Passenger Protection

In these extraordinary times, it's critical to protect your most valuable cargo and the lives of those you love. If you reside in a dangerous region, an armored car can help deter criminals and protect you and your family against live rounds, ballistics, fire, and even kidnapping attempts. Our passenger sedans and SUVs are discrete and blend seamlessly into ordinary traffic.

Law Enforcement

Crime rates are skyrocketing in many of the world's biggest cities. Significant amounts of illegal firearms are coming into the hands of criminals, and law enforcement authorities face considerable obstacles in their daily work. Our armored vehicles are custom-designed to confront these threats head-on and enable law enforcement to perform business safely and effectively.

Cash-in-Transit

Transporting cash is probably the role that armored vehicles are most closely connected with. The task generally involves moving large amounts of money from one financial institution or business to another. Cash-in-transit trucks are a desirable target for robbers and other nefarious characters who relish the opportunity to intercept trucks en route. Our cash-in-transit armored vehicles protect your cash from external threats and help to ensure that it reaches its destination securely.

Armored Personnel Carriers

Our armored personnel carriers are a critical component of military, law enforcement, and other contractor operations in the world's troubled regions. We can customize the carriers to repel live ammunition and ballistic threats, helping troops and officers carry out their tasks efficiently.

Specialty & Custom Armored Vehicles

Given their unique nature and sensitivity, some operations require specialized vehicles. At The Armored Group, we can customize any sedan, truck, or van to meet individual security and transportation requirements based on your specifications. We also provide custom upfitting to your current vehicle, or you can purchase an armored car directly from us including one from our used armored vehicle inventory.

How Do Our Armored Vehicles Offer Protection?

Overall, our armoring technology has been renowned for its reliability and resilience. Our vehicles have survived even some of the most potent threats. Here is a list of some of the features you can expect from our armored vehicles:

  • Bulletproof windows and doors
  • Ballistics and fire protection using metal and alloy

The Armored Group is a premier provider of various armored vehicles. As violence and crime rates surge worldwide, it is no surprise that VIPs are increasingly vulnerable to attack when traveling. Investing in a reliable armored vehicle from The Armored Group (TAG) is one of the best ways to protect yourself and your valuable cargo from the most potent threats.

Before we delve into the benefits of using armored vehicles, let’s explain why armored cars are becoming increasingly necessary.

Why Invest in an Armored Vehicle?

Nearly every time you turn on the television or read a newspaper, the news is rife with global turmoil. There’s an overall climate of insecurity everywhere you look, and the number of violent crimes, such as armed robbery, is increasing. According to data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, there were upwards of half a million violent crimes in the U.S. in 2020 alone. So as a VIP transporting precious cargo through high-risk areas, it makes sense to invest in an armored vehicle. And our vehicles are intentionally designed to blend in with standard street traffic.

In such a chaotic world, VIPs and other high-profile individuals must take precautions to protect themselves and their loved ones against robberies and even kidnappings. One of the most effective ways to do so is to invest in high-quality armored sedans and armored SUVs from a reliable vendor, such as The Armored Group.

How Do Armored Sedans & SUVs Protect VIPs & Their Cargo?

VIPs, like celebrities, politicians, and CEOs, are often targets of violent criminals due to their social and material status. This makes them and their families especially vulnerable while traveling. That is why investing in the right personal armored transport is critical in this day and age. Armored sedans and SUVs from The Armored Group offer several protective benefits and features, including:

Bullet Proofing

Bulletproofing is used for several purposes, including the installation of armor on vehicles to help protect personnel and equipment from gunfire. The Armored Group has amassed a great deal of knowledge and expertise in the realm of Bullet Proof armored sedans and SUVs. Whether it's the Lexus LS or an Audi Q7, our team can provide top-notch bullet proof armor for the vehicles of VIPs, celebrities, and other notables.

Run-Flat Tires

An armored sedan or SUV is not complete without run-flat tires. These tires, also called "sealed" or "airless" tires, contain no air and require no external compressor to inflate them. As a result, they are specially designed to continue functioning even when punctured. This helps the vehicle and its occupants to more safely evacuate an area in the event of an attack.

Ballistics Protection

Ballistic protection, like Bullet Proofing, adds another layer of projectile protection to a vehicle. At The Armored Group, our state-of-the-art ballistic protection armor can help to safeguard VIPs and their precious cargo from improvised explosive devices (IEDs), missiles, and even fires.

How does ballistic protection work for sedans and SUVs?

All glass must be engineered to resist live bullets and shrapnel. To do so, the windows and windshield are made up of two layers: one that is resistant to penetration and the other that is anti-reflective. This prevents light from reflecting into the eyes of the occupants. During explosions, this can help the glass prevent thermal radiation from entering the vehicle.

Other Features of Armored Sedans & SUVs

Armored sedans and SUVs from The Armored Group are designed to be inconspicuous in many surroundings. This helps to evade detection and, whenever possible, avoid confrontation. However, in the event of a confrontation or attack, our vehicles are equipped with a wide range of armoring features.

Further enhancements can be made to customize or upgrade your armored vehicle. Allowing you to modify an armored vehicle to meet your unique wants and needs. Contact us to discuss in detail your security and armoring options.

Some of the custom options available for our armored sedans and SUVs include:

  • Vertical panel protection
  • Certified bullet-proof glass
  • Roof protection
  • Blast protection
  • Door overlap protection
  • Upgraded brakes and suspension systems

Tensions in many regions throughout the world are rapidly accelerating, and armored cars from The Armored Group (TAG) can help keep people and valuables safe. Although we often experience vulnerability when riding in vehicles, TAG armored vehicles offer unmatched protection. However, our headquarters is in Michigan, which allows us to work closely with major U.S. car manufacturers. The Armored Group, LLC (TAG) has announced that they are now manufacturing new Cash-in-Transit (CIT) vehicles used by the cannabis industry. These vehicles utilize a variation of the company’s existing Cash-in-Transit vehicles that meet the unique operational needs of the cannabis industry. The Armored Group started manufacturing these vehicles to meet a growing market demand for armored vehicles to securely transport wholesale products to dispensaries, pick up cash and deliver it to the Federal Reserve, bank or cash processing vault by armored courier service provider.

“It is important to identify industries that need armored vehicles and aren’t sure where to go to get the security they need to transport valuables, cash, coin and other liability.  The growing cannabis industry was one of those markets transporting valuable product and cash. The Armored Group saw this need and developed a vehicle perfect for this industry,” said Robert Pazderka, Founder and President of The Armored Group. “The vehicle is purposely non-descript retaining the OEM exterior with a safety cell within the “shell” of the vehicle. It also features critical items like infrared cameras inside and out, built-in safes, GPS, satellite phones and light shutoff switches as an extra precaution.”

The move into this segment has revitalized the cash-in-transit (CIT) industry. The earliest CIT modes of guarded transportation were stagecoaches which were mechanized around 1910. Around 2000, there was a massive corporate consolidation of CIT service providers operating within the most populous regions.  Today, more and more independent operators are entering the market again, giving he armored vehicle manufacturing industry a renewed revenue stream enabling more people to secure jobs, markets and territories in this growing industry.

packingmaterialAre you a horrible wrapper when it comes to gifts? Sometimes the items that need to be wrapped require extra care, such as thicker paper, reinforced boxes or special packing materials. What if the items were being sent overseas? Suddenly the costs for shipping the item can overshadow its initial price. Even then, how can you ensure its protection and guarantee that the package will be successfully delivered in the exact same condition you initially prepared it?

Businesses worldwide face this problem on a daily basis because many of their most valuable transactions are done on an international scale. Doing import and export business carries extra risk including the potential for tampering. Some businesses handle small shipments of valuables, and others work with larger items that need the exact same amount of protection. Occasionally, a little extra packing is simply not sufficient. These types of businesses are more likely to enlist the help of armored transport. Armored trucks and trailers look similar to unarmored ones, but it is more difficult for intruders to break in and steal the valuable goods inside.

Here is a small selection of the types of priceless cargo needing armored protection:

  • Weaponry and ammunition
  • Silver, gold or platinum jewelry and other high-class valuables made from these metals
  • Precious stones
  • Historical artifacts
  • Art
  • Materials for developmental organizations (pharmaceutical, medical, ballistics, or other armory and technology)
  • Money

Depending on the type of cargo, accommodations may need to be made in addition to armored transportation. This could vary from the availability of air conditioning, secured slots or storage compartments, safes and more.

semi.truck.doorA standard semi-truck trailer has an external lock, and the rear door either slides up or opens outward. An armored version may have several external locks, an interior door and be reinforced with several composite steel plates to protect against different bullet sizes. If you have viewed any of the most recent Fast and Furious movies, you will see that semi-truck drivers are at high risk of hijacking and need to be protected. Therefore, bullet-resistant glass, reinforced cab walls and floor-blast protection can be lifesaving for the driver in control of a large vehicle and its shipment.

A common Achilles' heel for any tractor trailer is the connection, or "hitch." While it is extremely rare for connections to become compromised, movies such as Fast and Furious have dramatized how it can occur. Thankfully, there are heavy regulations and frequent checks for all safety components for the short- and long-distance transportation of goods. Businesses dealing with imports and exports develop strong relationships with automotive industry businesses, especially for those providing armored transportation like us. Speak to our industry professionals today for your needs!

The Armored Group (TAG) specializes in renovating vehicles that provide armored protection for drivers and passengers. Some of our most sought-after vehicles include our heavy-duty Ballistic Armored Tactical Transports (BATTs), Cash-in-Transit vehicles and luxury automobiles. The Armored Group (TAG) first created a line of Cash-In-Transit (CIT) vehicles like the one pictured.

Originating in 1992 for those who needed Cash-in-Transit (CIT) vehicles, TAG has utilized a variety of vehicle sizes and types to best suit buyers. The standard vehicle for the CIT business is armored trucks, but some clients wanted something less conspicuous. TAG expanded from the CIT markets by using more commonly used vehicles such as Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) and various van styles as bullet-resistant automobiles.

After excelling in the CIT market, TAG grew to support both domestic and international clients and expanded additionally to Law Enforcement and personal passenger protection. The expansion came out after the approval of the U.S. General Services Administration for TAG to prepare vehicles for governmental clients. TAG worked diligently to achieve certifications such as the VPAM-BRV 2009/VR7 Ballistic ERV 2010 Blast certification as issued by German ballistic testing laboratories. Being a long time member of the Independent Armored Car Operator’s Association also helped in our rapid growth. TAG has built for the following governmental and commercial clients:

  • U.S. Army
  • U.S. Department of Defense
  • U.S. Department of State
  • United Nations
  • Caterpillar
  • Brinks
  • Loomis
  • G4S
  • Central Bank of Iraq
  • Central Bank of Nigeria
  • Exxon Mobile

TAG offers a wide variety of private client vehicle types ranging from sedans to full-sized SUV's.

Our international reach deals with commercial, governmental and personal clients who all need protection in varied ways and territories. TAG customizes each vehicle by remodeling the chassis, depending on vehicle type and client needs. The following list demonstrates the modifications TAG makes to every vehicle:

  • Place ballistic steel plates on all sides, doors, front, rear and rooftop
  • Protect engine components and gas tank
  • Upgrade door hinges, vehicle suspension and brakes to accommodate the heavier vehicle weight
  • Prep floor with mild blast absorbent
  • Install run-flats in all tires including the spare
  • Replace windshields and side windows with transparent armor glass

There are more features that can be explored, depending on the client and their needs.

In comparison, the governmental vehicles that TAG modifies for governmental and international use are of a larger scale and require more protective features. The size of the vehicles ranges as small as Hilux pickup trucks to tri axle over the road semi-trucks. We build vehicles for convoy escorts, hostage negotiation units, busses, rapid deployment, mobile command centers, tactical and a whole family of APC vehicles known as the BATT (Ballistic Armored Tactical Transport).

Armored Vehicles Are Key to the Cash-in-Transit Industry

Armored cash-in-transit (CIT) vehicles keep valuable items safe from harm or theft

Cash In Transit TruckArmored trucks and vans, and their uniformed crews, are a common sight not just outside of banks but also around ATMs and retail stores. For a supposedly “cashless” society, we have certainly come to take for granted ready access to cash 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  This kind of easy access to money wouldn’t be possible without strong security measures to safely store and transport large amounts of currency and coins, because the risk of theft would be too great.

Armored vehicles are the key component of what is now known as the “cash-in-transit,” or CIT, industry. In fact, transporting cash and valuables was the first use for civilian armored vehicles, and when The Armored Group was founded in 1992, we specialized in manufacturing cash-in-transit vehicles exclusively.

Today, cash-in-transit vans and trucks, operated by some 55 to 65 carriers in the U.S., deliver billions of dollars from secure warehouses to destinations all over cities and towns nationwide. These carriers usually do much more than just transport cash; today, they offer total cash management services for their clients, as well as offering storage for other valuables such as precious metals and vital records. Some cash-in-transit companies even offer complete ATM services that include not just servicing client’s ATMs, but procuring and installing them as well. However, basic armored vehicle transportation services still produce the majority of the revenue for these companies.

Cash-in-transit vehicles are heavily armored to protect their crews and cargo from attempts at theft or hijacking. Their walls and windows are bullet resistant, and as with military vehicles, some have floors that are reinforced to resist explosives. (Armored vehicles’ vulnerability to attacks from explosives placed in the roadway and detonated underneath the vehicle were identified and remedied in the earliest days of the cash-in-transit business, after frustrated thieves successfully turned to explosives to rob an armored van that was transporting cash.) Cash-in-transit vehicles ride on chassis that are reinforced to carry the weight of the additional armoring, as well as large loads of currency and coin.

As important as armored vehicles are in the cash-in-transit business, the industry also relies on other measures to insure security for their clients’ valuables:

Secure storage facilities
Well-screened and well-trained drivers and crews
Special cargo insurance
Closed-circuit television systems
Strict audit procedures
